Candlemas: Feb. 2, 5:30 p.m.

Candlemas and Potluck
Monday, February 2nd, 5:30 pm

Come apart, not in the ususal way, of falling to pieces but in the contemplative practice that was modelled by Jesus.  You are invited to take time out of your busy schedule to restore your soul in the company of friends and prayful reflection.  Potluck to follow.

Candlemas is the Christian feast that celebrates the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and, historically, the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is observed forty days after Christmas and is rooted in Luke 2:22–40, which tells of Mary and Joseph bringing the infant Jesus to the Temple
The name Candlemas comes from the ancient practice of blessing and lighting candles for use in the church and homes on this day—hence "Mass of the Candles." The candles symbolize Christ as the light of the world.
