Ascension Day Worship Service & Potluck

Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Ascension tide begins May 14.  You are invited to join with others to begin this Season of the Church Year with Holy Communion at 5:30 pm, followed by a Pot Luck.  The light of Christ, as present in the Paschal and altar candles have gone dark.  The promise of an Advocate has been given by Jesus, but has not yet been realized.  The ten days of Ascension mark a sort of powerlessness that is only bridged by hope, a hope that the culture can neither give nor understand.  

Perhaps in these days, Ascension tide calls us to a new and clearer understanding of real power.  I hope that you will join us next Thursday, May 14, at 5:30 pm.  Bring your prayers to offer to the Lord and a dish to share with your neighbor.
