News from the Sacristan

It’s budget time, and the Altar Guild budget is a little different than other ministries.  We have a lot of consumables that need replacing year-round.  Altar candles cost us about $600 per year, and sanctuary candles that burn weekly outside our Ambry cost about $750 per year.  We spend about $200 a year on wine. It comes from Catholic Supply in Seattle, and I have to get it in person.

Our church is getting older, and with that comes replacements of linens and hangings. The beautiful Fair Linen you see on the altar will need a replacement in a year or so, and it’s $600.  We are blessed with a generous congregation, and we are happy to be stewards of these beautiful things.

The good news is that our guild does a lot to save us money. We don’t buy altar flowers. Our cut flowers are gifted, and we use plants most of the year.  Our communion bread is made by 3 devoted bakers and saves us a lot of money on wafers.  Our guild also does a lot of cleaning in the sanctuary and nave, which saves us from hiring someone.  Thank you for all you do for our church family in worship.
