Communion Wine

Traditionally, many Episcopal churches use red wine, which is often a port or sherry, due to its rich color and flavor, which can symbolize the blood of Christ. The key is that the wine should be of good quality and suitable for the sacrament (The Book of Common Prayer, page 409).
Because of supply costs and taste, the Altar Guild and our Chaplin have chosen a port wine from Portugal. It can be bought locally. The total cost is about the same. Over the next few months you will notice different wines in our Chalice as we use up the wine we have.
