Take Action for Justice! 3/25/19

The budget is a moral document that should especially serve the poor and vulnerable in our communities. Even with the increased revenue coming into the State Treasury, many human service programs will need funding because of cuts made during the Great Recession, such as the Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Department of Corrections housing vouchers, mental health programs, foster homes, and the Working Families Tax Credit. Contact your legislators to ask them to prioritize these items in the biennial budget.
Two bills that you can support this week include:

• Death Penalty Repeal bill (SB 5339) This bill was heard on Monday in the House Committee on Public Safety and will be voted on soon.
