It’s the end of the academic year, the weather is warming up, and sometimes dry, it’s vacation time! We continue our normal worship schedule during the summer months with a quiet said service at 8 am and congregational hymns and service music at 10:30 am. During the summer months we will have an occasional adult discussion topic at 9:15 am (watch the bulletin and E-News for details). Our outreach ministries such as the Community dinner and Food Bank continue as does the jail ministry and pastoral care.
I will be on vacation from Jun 12 to Jul 8; traveling to Texas, Louisiana, and Tennessee to visit family and friends. We haven’t seen some of our grandkids in almost 3 years so it will be a fun road trip.
We have Sunday supply priests for each Sunday; The Rev. Jerry Shigaki, The Rev. Robert Williams, and The Rev. Don Maddux. Worship and church business will continue as usual. For administrative and building use issues, contact Larry in the church office; for pastoral care, contact the church office, Mary Michael Garlichs, or Trish Shaw; Contact the Wardens, Paul Seabert or Gretchen O’Connor for any other church business or issues.
It will not be a quiet summer; we have some exciting things scheduled to take us into the fall season – so don’t miss too much church or you might miss something important. On Sunday, Aug 11th, we’ll take the next step to becoming a parish with a parish organizational meeting. It will be at 9:15 am in the Nave and be organized similar to an annual meeting. At this meeting we will formally organize ourselves as a parish, and pending approval of diocesan convention in November, make the permanent change in status.
Children’s Day Camp for kids kindergarten through 5th grade happens Aug 12 – 16 at St. Benedict’s. This is a joint ministry with our sister churches in Olympia and is open to the community. See the details in the bulletin or E-News and talk to Jan Akin or Caroline Madden for more information. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in this ministry and have some fun and learning with some great kids.
I wish you a blessed start to your summer. If you’re traveling, be safe; and whatever you’re up to – enjoy the fullness of God’s grace and love.
Blessings, Fr. Ed
