Mary Wilson, an Oral History - Sunday, April 28 at 12:30 PM

Born in Philadelphia, Mary Wilson, her husband James and their son Chip moved to the Olympia area in 1957. They were met with challenges and prejudices but became instrumental in the building of our community of Lacey.

Mary was a YWCA board member, served on The Lacey City Planning Commission, Thurston-Mason Health Planning Commission and helped form the Thurston County Chapter of the Black Woman’s Caucus. She was co-chair of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration for the state of WA.

Come and celebrate Mary’s 94th birthday and hear her stories of the early history of Lacey.
